We are very excited about your coming to Ukraine soon and have prepared a couple of things that will help you learn more about the country of your future volunteer service and even start getting ready for your future assignments while you are still in the U.S. Here is a brief outline of the Pre-Service resources we have prepared for you as well as a list of paperwork we need to get from you at least 30 days prior to your arrival.

Ukrainian Language Home Prep Program (for all volunteers)

TEFL Home Prep Program (only for TEFL volunteers)

Designed to provide you with a solid foundation for the Pre-Service Training and your future teaching assignment in Ukraine. It consists of a Pre-PST TEFL Modules and Test. There are instructions with the program which will help you to use the program.

Using this home prep program, you will review teaching fundamentals such as the role of the teacher, teaching methods, and English language awareness. After completing this program, you will be better prepared to utilize the 12 weeks of pre-service training to delve deeper into key practical areas specific to teaching in Ukraine. The program is followed by a multiple choice test to help you assess your grasp of the information presented. You may take the test as often as you like. It contains a question randomizer function which will automatically change the assortment of questions each time you take the test.

Cross Cultural Awareness Home Prep Program (for all volunteers)

Designed to provide you with a foundation for effective communication across cultures and smooth cultural adjustment. The Program consists of three modules:

1. Culture and Its Dimensions
2. Assumptions
3. Mastering Communication

We encourage you to take an hour of your time and devote it to this program. To launch it you need to unzip the file and click on the “player” file. It is our latest product, so we apologize for any glitches it might have. We tested it on both Windows PCs and Macs and it worked! Besides, we are very much interested in your feedback and suggestions how to further develop it.

We hope that you will make a good use of all these resources and that they will help you to lay a good foundation for your successful service in Ukraine.
